Self & Surrounds

Self & Surrounds is Nest Studio Collective’s first group exhibition exploring the spaces and places that have become the focus of each of our practices over the year of 2022. Through distorted spaces, changing landscapes, and finding beauty in the everyday, we invite you to explore how we experience and interpret the world around us.

To know her is to know her home.

She knows the bends and turns of the river

as intimately as she knows the curves of her own body;

the paths she weaves through town

as ingrained in her memory as breathing.

If you look closely, you can see

where the outline of her body dissolves,

melting into her surrounds, or perhaps it melting into her.

Maybe self and surrounds are not two separate entities,

but something intertwined, an intricate weaving of identity.
